Mark Wilding, former staff member at Calvert and Patuxent High Schools and current CCPS Director of the Sciences, is a 2009 candidate for United Way Mardi Gras King. Mark’s former students and colleagues may remember him as the consummate jokester, juggling geometry with instructions on how to dance “the sprinkler.” But Mark has other ambitions…his longing for the title of Mardi Gras King, so he says “I may spread my love for mathematics to all my loyal subjects.”
Mark with the support of his campaign manager, Director of Social Studies, Scott McComb, has led an energetic campaign raising money for United Way. So far they have organized a playoff game fundraiser at Mark’s home, a letter-writing campaign to local businesses, colleagues and friends, and hosted a Blue Jean and Chili luncheon at the Calvert County Board of Education.
Mark and his wife, Sharon,Susan, live in St. Leonard and are the parents of Kaitlin, Bridget and Joseph. When he is not lending a hand to United Way, he plays golf, coaches his daughter's soccer teams, and roots for the Redskins and the Hokies.
